what i did today:

i went out shopping at Chatswood today: boy has the train station changed! it seems they're finally making some progress on that Epping to Chatswood link... i walked around quite a bit, but didn't really buy much.

this is what i got:
1. A cute pair of earrings: $10
2. Cleanser + toner + moisturiser from Shiseido for only: $39
3. New maths workbook: $2.50
4. A new haircut that i actually like: priceless!

but unlike ppl who carry digital cameras with them everywhere...u'll just have to wait till the next time u see me before u can have a look at my new haircut!

oh yeah, went to Makoto for lunch...i do love the design of the restaurant...it has the coolest ceiling....one day, when i have my own house- it's going to be specially designed and not boring! i want to have a room with wooden floors and one of the walls made entirely of glass and i'm going to have my grand piano in there- a room devoted to music! ooh and i want french windows in my room...cream coloured walls and dark blue carpet...venetian or roman blinds i can't decide....

anyway, the only thing i dislike about Chatswood is the smokers. Argh they always stand 2m away from the door, so as soon as you step outside, you're engulfed in horrid smelling smoke and you have to hold your breath and walk away as fast as you can... i really can't stand it, it's disgusting and they're going to give themselves cancer; not to mention ruining my lungs!

to you...

Bitter tears soak her pillow at night
Forced out by her grief unspoken
She stares hungrily into the broken mirror
But sees only her distorted reflection

She's lost all sense of her true self
And what's lost may never be found
She sits there, mute in her misery
Watching the shadows lengthen and the sun go down.

Her emotion - fresh, stinging and raw
Mercilessly stabs her heart again and again
It could've been her secret suffering
It could've been her private pain.

She knew this would happen.
Why then did she tell him?
If she was careful, no one would know
But she knew it was sin:

And her conscience would not let it be.
Oh how she struggled! But her bonds were too tight
And so her heart paid the price.
How could it hurt so much to do right?

The inner conflict and turmoil
Is over, and she is at peace
But at what cost? She feels ill
She cannot eat, she cannot sleep.

The landscape is desolate
Once more she is all alone
She thought it could stay like it was
Forever, but time rages on.

And so if you see her today,
Notice the inexpressible sadness of her eyes
See how loneliness haunts her face
Feel the cold emanating from her as she cries.

The budding rose - so innocent
Became sick from the worm
It slowly lost the fight and died
Before it had a chance to bloom

yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

yesterday i watched Pirates of the Caribbean...again! no matter how many times i watch it, i still laugh my head off and enjoy it immensely....ahh i simply adore Johnny Depp in his role as Jack Sparrow- there's never been a pirate quite like him- tries so hard to be evil, but is actually really nice! hehe...

and i thought this was quite funny:
johnny depp

ooh and Pirates 2 is coming out July 7 2006!!
it's called Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Plot Summary: This time around, Johnny returns as Captain Jack Sparrow and is caught in yet another tangled web of supernatural intrigue. It turns out, Captain Jack owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, ruler of the ocean depths and captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. If Jack can't figure a crafty way out of this one, he'll be cursed to an afterlife of eternal servitude and damnation. And as if that weren't enough, Captain Jack's problems throw a huge wrench into the wedding plans of the blissful Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, who quickly find themselves thrust into Jack's misadventures.

hmm..apparently Chow Yun Fat is going to be in it; as a Chinese pirate?

there's another mask behind you

Masquerade- happy faces on parade...
No one knows how they really feel inside.
Masquerade- the smile that never fades...
After all what have we to hide?

Simple pretence- all looks fine...
Frozen feelings shoved behind
That nameless mask- those dry eyes...
Fears and tears are left uncried.

Masquerade- empty faces on parade...
All is shallow; no one speaks their mind.
Masquerade- nothing deeper is displayed...
Silently the heart bleeds itself inside.

anhydrous is my middle name... (titration anyone?)

i am such a chem nerd. today with 2 other classmates from my accelerated chem class, we caught the train from wahroonga to redfern, then walked to Sydney uni for a chem lecture. i have to say, it was my first time to catch a train so far, and my first time to go to "uni" and with that i simply must add that i can't wait to finish high school- uni is amazing!

let me start from the beginning... 3 abbotsleigh yr 11 girls exitted Redfern Station, after a 45 min train ride from Wahroonga...we were hoping that there would be signs to direct us to where Sydney uni was. unfortunately, as we stepped outside, we were confronted with a conundrum: there were NO SIGNS! so, there we were, standing at the entrance looking confused and lost. luckily, a lady who was passing by saw our predicament and asked if she could help! thankfully we got directions from her where to go. she was so nice!! i wonder if she was christian....lending her help to random strangers....

anyway, finally we arrived...feeling very conspicuous and extremely juvenile...everyone else for miles around was in casual clothes- and there we were; in school uniform! anyhow, we wandered around the campus for quite a while, because we had no sense of direction and because we couldn't figure out how to read the map. still, at least it gave me the time to admire how absolutely BIG the campus was....and it was also interesting to note some really cool hi-tech looking buildings, and compare them with the old gothic cathedral-like structures scattered around the grounds.

we somehow worked out that we had to cross the overpass in order to reach the chemistry building....and there was another surprise! the building that we entered which led to the overpass made me cry out in astonishment...if i hadn't known i was on a university campus, i would've sworn i had walked into a shopping centre. we passed a Donut King, and coffee shops, and newsagents and it made our canteen at school look like a 'dai pai dong' in comparison.

anyway, moving on...the chemistry lecture hall itself was interesting, as it had a fume cupboard built into the actual wall! this was fun as the lecturer poured bromine onto aluminium to make aluminium bromide- as u know, this is a toxic gas, but what impressed me was the eerie purple glow and the way the aluminium burst into flames... u see nothing like that in high school!

after the lecture was finished (5-6:30pm) we had to make our way back to Redfern station. We caught the bus which was a wise idea as we didn't think it was very safe to walk through the streets of Redfern on the shortest day of the year! it was a little scary when we walked past Everleigh St and saw a bunch of ppl gathered around a fire- just like what u see in movies, except this was real and less than 200m away.

i arrived home, tired and hungry at 8:10pm. it's hard to believe it took me more than an hour and a half to travel back home...i arrived at school this morning at 7:45am which means i've had a 12 and a half hour day!! not to mention a 3 hour maths competition this morning...i think i will go to bed early tonight....i'm exhausted.

oh no! extension maths tomorrow morning at 7:30am! -_-"

Congratulations Elaine & Jeremy!

what a beautiful day for a wedding! we arrived at 1pm at St. James Anglican Church in Turramurra....the church was absolutely packed! it was a light-hearted joyful occasion and Elaine looked gorgeous in her simple yet stylish dress... the afternoon tea was also wonderful- fruit tarts, profiteroles, curry puffs, egg tarts, satay fish balls, red-bean pudding things, and loads of other yummy chinese desserts that i can't pronounce!

look around u

i learnt an important lesson today.

it was after extension english, the sky was dark and i was waiting to be picked up from school- at 5 pm. So there i was, helplessly waiting in my paper-thin school uniform while the sky grew steadily darker and the wind started to howl. I knew my mum would be 5 to 10 minutes coming. But as i was standing there, tucking my face into my scarf in a vain attempt to keep warm, i started to think: normally by now i would've thought of a million complaints about how cold i was and how hungry i was, and how unfair it was that i had to stand out in the cold, and how tired i was, and how i wanted to go home (and take a shower) but...i didn't.

instead, i looked around me, and even in what seemed to be a bad situation- somehow i was able to see the good in it. The sky was an amazing lilac colour that gently changed hue to very light pink as it dropped further into the horizon...the wind was fierce yes- and yet Jesus spoke to the wind and it obeyed...the roaring of the trees sounded like the ocean...i was able to appreciate Nature in all its terrifying beauty...the sky was empty but for one brightly distant star side by side with the silver edged moon. And to think that God created it all and controls it and sustains it every moment- we truly have an awesome Creator God!

And to think that this amazing sovereign God loves me to the extent that He died for me...well- what can one do but fall on their knees in gratefulness, repentance and obedience to Him?
How can one do naught but rejoice in every circumstance and situation whether good or bad- knowing that our heavenly Father is doing what is best for us and is in total control?

Come, let us bow in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker
Psalm 95:6

aiyaa so many questions! =P

okay- this leads from [Jely's] last post:

1. How many days can you go without taking a shower?
a) what?!?! i shower every day!!
b) i can stand 1 day- but definitely no more- i gotta shower the day after
c) 2- i don't see the big deal (?)
d) more than 2- "dirt is healthy for u."

and your answer is....

*

like a true azn- i would pick (a) i shudder at the thought of not being clean, and besides, showering makes u feel so good afterwards! especially in winter when it's cold- a nice hot shower is the perfect thing before hopping into bed.

alright, this next one is to settle an argument, heated discussion, debate we had at lunch today:

2. What is the thing called where it's like an escalator except its flat and without steps and often seen in airports and opposite the fruit shop in Castle Towers?
a) Travelator
b) Pathelator

and your answer is....

*

seriously- all my life i knew it to be called a travelator...i've NEVER heard of a pathelator...it even looks stupid when i type it! let's get a vote on this- who reckons it is SO travelator? ME!!

buffet birthday celebrations

Last night, my family went out to celebrate my sister's birthday. We decided to have a buffet dinner at Stamford Grand in North Ryde...the seafood was excellent! my favourite was the seafood curry- which included pipis, prawns, scallops etc...they also had a very nice crab and sweetcorn soup as well as the cold section including fresh prawns, lobsters and oysters!!

me and beamum and dad
me and bea & dad and mum

the hoteldessert
the hotel & yummy dessert!

it would've been a perfect evening except for one thing: a couple of minutes after we were shown to our table, the head waiter (black suit, nerdy looking) comes up to us and asks us if anyone had shown us in! how rude! as if we would walk in and plonk ourselves down?! it was rather insulting....so we wrote a nice little comment back to the hotel on their "how was your dining experience" comment card expressing our indignation at such lowly treatment....

what is with people these days?

me and bea were having a nap in the car while mum and dad went shopping, when all of a sudden- crash! i woke up thinking someone had hit our car! and i wasn't half wrong. the big four wheel drive on our right had almost knocked our mirror off while trying to park. I got out of the car, and the stocky middle-eastern looking man came around and without even apologising, said to me- "you parked too damn close!" then, he shoved the mirror back together and walked off. i've never been affronted with such rudeness (well, besides last night)! i think i've been very protected for most of my life that's why.... and frankly, if people like him are out there in the world, i'm not really sure i want to leave the comfort and safety of my home!

onto better news....i'm having a barbeque tomorrow!!!!! yay!!!! hopefully the weather will hold up....mmm chicken wings....sausages....(btw- i asked my mum, and she said frankfurts were pork! HAHA!) ooh i'm drooling already....

a song for beatrice...

bea

Happy Birthday to Bea-
A bright and bubbly girl.
Her name holds true for she
Indeed brings joy into this world.

She can be rather annoying sometimes,
But I love how she makes me laugh..
Though when it comes to writing in rhyme
I still kick her ass!!

(inside joke) =P

looking forward to the holidays...

just 3 more weeks to go.... until the blessed 3 weeks of holidays!!! woohoo!

i've got 3 questions:

1. Anyone know a place near Epping RSL which stays open until at least 12am that we can go for after-party? Formal is coming up soon, but it's been really hard trying to organise anything...

2. Anyone know a nice park that has a barbeque that is not too far away from Cherrybrook, Carlingford, Waitara, Wahroonga, Chatswood and Artamon? it's kind of hard since my friends live from one end of Sydney to the other....north, south, east, west you've got it! (btw- i'll bring the sausages!)

3. Does cramming before exams actually do anything? I have a chemistry assessment in last period....

randomness

i should really really really be studying chemistry...and doing my english too...but i'm listening to the CD of Phantom of the Opera right now- it's too gd! i can't concentrate...oh well- there's always time to do work later...

red or brown?

I have a theory that there are two kinds of people in the world:
1. People who think sausages are brown and made of beef or
2. People who know that sausages are red and made of pork.

The brown beef sausages you always get in barbeques are NOT sausages- merely cheap imitations....sausages are meant to be red! RED i say... have u ever tried red frankfurt sausages brushed with honey....*drool* the king of all sausages....maan i wouldn't mind having one right now...

in fact, the last time i had a barbeque was at Ed's place....hahahha that was fun- especially how Ed ended up with having a floater in his pool...alright peoples, next time we have a bbq- we're having RED sausages....

i'll bring the honey.

who am i?

Who am I?
Am I the girl who I used to be,
Why do I feel so strangely empty,
Have I really changed that much,
Or am I simply going out of touch?

Who am I?
All my thoughts leave me so confused,
What is false and what is true?
Why is it I find no peace,
No rest and no relief in sleep...

Who am I?
The bonds of earth are choking me,
release me now, but where's the key?
I just want to fly away,
Won't have to face another day...

this was my mood a couple of days ago...it was as if i was stuck, stuck in a negative mindset...no matter how hard i tried to be cheerful- i fell back down in a short space of time...my head hurt from thinking too much about why i was feeling this way, was it right to feel this way, how can i stop feeling this way... but God was indeed gracious to me. In the midst of my moodiness...it was this song on [fm103.2] that got through to me:

casting crowns

[Who am I]

Who am I?
That the Lord of all the earth,
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt,
Who am I?
That the Bright and Morning Star,
Would choose to light the way,
For my ever wandering heart,

Not because of who I am,
But because of what You've done,
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who You are,

Chorus
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean (ocean),
A vapour in the wind,
Still You hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling,
And You've told me who I am..
I am Yours.

Who am I?
That the eyes that see my sin,
Would look on me with love,
and watch me rise again,
Who am I?
That the voice that calmed the sea,
Would call out through the rain,
And calm the storm in me,

Not because of who I am,
But because of what You've done,
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who You are,

Chorus

I am Yours,
Whom shall I fear?
Whom shall I fear?
'Cause I am Yours,
I am Yours.

*

Indeed, it was such a big comfort and encouragement to be reminded that God had chosen ME before the creation of the world. To know that He loved me and thought of me while there was nothing...to know that I am one of His chosen, one of his precious daughters whom only Christ's blood was sufficient to pay for my sin...if ever i feel lonely or unimportant, this song points out poignantly that someone does care...that He cares...

who am I? I am His =)
