look around u
i learnt an important lesson today.
it was after extension english, the sky was dark and i was waiting to be picked up from school- at 5 pm. So there i was, helplessly waiting in my paper-thin school uniform while the sky grew steadily darker and the wind started to howl. I knew my mum would be 5 to 10 minutes coming. But as i was standing there, tucking my face into my scarf in a vain attempt to keep warm, i started to think: normally by now i would've thought of a million complaints about how cold i was and how hungry i was, and how unfair it was that i had to stand out in the cold, and how tired i was, and how i wanted to go home (and take a shower) but...i didn't.
instead, i looked around me, and even in what seemed to be a bad situation- somehow i was able to see the good in it. The sky was an amazing lilac colour that gently changed hue to very light pink as it dropped further into the horizon...the wind was fierce yes- and yet Jesus spoke to the wind and it obeyed...the roaring of the trees sounded like the ocean...i was able to appreciate Nature in all its terrifying beauty...the sky was empty but for one brightly distant star side by side with the silver edged moon. And to think that God created it all and controls it and sustains it every moment- we truly have an awesome Creator God!
And to think that this amazing sovereign God loves me to the extent that He died for me...well- what can one do but fall on their knees in gratefulness, repentance and obedience to Him?
How can one do naught but rejoice in every circumstance and situation whether good or bad- knowing that our heavenly Father is doing what is best for us and is in total control?
Come, let us bow in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker
Psalm 95:6
