eyf camp 06!

eyf camp this year was at Collaroy. 3 days of talks from 1 Peter + plenty of free time and great fellowship. it was great just to get away from studying (sigh...) and to look at God's Word to see how we ought to be living as Christians.

The talks by Aaron Koh (WSCCC) were really fantastic- solid, chunky, and challenges for everyone to consider. I think the bit that everyone was really challenged by was the part about submitting to authority- even our parents! and to take it seriously for example, not downloading illegal music or DVD's... yeah i remember how painful it was to delete my collection but the clear conscience afterwards is worth it!

Classic Moments:
1. Little Joey kept losing at Snap so he drank cups and cups of water and cordial... until he was so bloated that if you pushed him, you could hear the water sloshing around! haha jk jk
2. The orange-eating competition on Saturday night... haha that was fun to watch! but i'm guessing the victims er i mean competitors might say differently....
3. Auctioning off Ed the Sherpa and then the winning team setting him free. awww =)
4. Trying to find a watermelon for the "mystery prize" but in the end settling for a coconut!
5. The highschoolers totally kicking the uni ppl's butt in soccer!! haha go gary go! he was man of the match for sure..



okay if we lose... we have to eat the pies! :: jeff keeps losing...

Random Stuff:
1. The fact that some of the guys brought hair-straightener, hair-dryer and enough hair products for all the girls?!?! oh and Ryan was wearing eye-liner?!?!
2. Doug finally stopped jumping around by Sunday lunchtime
3. The obsession ppl had with stealing little Joey's Wookie Feet
4. New found respect for Big Joey and Sham after their dance off!! (first time i've seen real breakdancing... WOW)
5. Some of the girls didn't sleep AT ALL on saturday night... they were found playing bball at 5:30 in the morning =0

Reflection:
All in all I did have a great time. But what was most important was that I was reminded afresh of God's love for us and the wonder of the Cross.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you. 1 Peter 1:3-4

And what a hope it is! I pray that even through the busyness and stress of trials and hsc coming up that I may hold fast to this hope, never letting my eyes stray from Christ and to work hard at my godliness: putting Jesus first, others second and myself last.

I am so glad that I have been able to be refreshed and drawn into a closer relationship with God, loving Him more and delighting in His Word!
